Legal

Legal documents

All of these ship inside the app as well, readable in full and offline before you accept them, and afterwards under Settings → About. The versions here are the same documents.

How consent works in the app

Six of these documents form the in-app legal set, and accepting them is a required step of onboarding — the second step, before the app offers to connect a Google account, so you agree to how your data is handled before any account is involved. Every document is readable in full, offline, before you accept.

Consent is deliberately granular rather than a single wall: one “I agree to everything” box proves nothing about understanding. There are eleven individually tickable acknowledgements, none pre-ticked, all required, each stored with its own timestamp. Accept & continue stays disabled until all eleven are confirmed, with a live count. These are the exact statements:

The agreements

  1. I have read and accept the Privacy Policy.
  2. I have read and accept the Terms of Use, including the licence agreement.
  3. I am at least 16 years old (or the higher minimum age in my country) and legally able to accept these terms.

Medical limits

  1. I understand that Mediara Vault does not provide medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.
  2. I understand that Mediara Vault is not for emergencies — in an emergency I will call my local emergency number.
  3. I understand that reference content, including vaccination schedules, is general information that varies by country and can become outdated, and that I am responsible for verifying medical information with qualified healthcare professionals.
  4. I understand that reminders can fail — device settings, battery, restarts — and do not replace my own medication management.

My data, my responsibility

  1. I understand that my data is stored only on this device, and that backups, if I enable them, go to my own Google Drive — the developer never has a copy.
  2. I understand that I am responsible for maintaining backups, and that uninstalling the app or losing this device without a backup permanently destroys my data.
  3. I understand that the developer cannot recover my data or my recovery code under any circumstances.
  4. I understand that I am responsible for protecting this device and my Google account, which protect my records and backups.

A few risks are acknowledged at the feature rather than during onboarding, because a consent given weeks before you touch something is weaker in practice: choosing an account-portable backup, setting a recovery code, turning on the Emergency Card’s biometric bypass, and creating a profile for a child or another adult each ask for a specific confirmation at the moment you do it.

Re-consent

The legal set is versioned. If it changes materially, the app shows the consent gate once more on next launch, back at “0 of 11 confirmed”, and cannot continue until every box is ticked again. Editorial corrections do not re-arm it. Your acceptance receipt — the versions and the dates — is viewable any time under Settings → About.
